The Latics continue to struggle converting good performances into points and while they have collected seven points from their last five games, they continue to remain in the relegation zone, though they are just one point away from safety. However with a fairly easy run in to the end of the season, manager Roberto Martinez will be confident that his side will collect the required points and climb out of the relegation zone come the end of the season.

Wigan suffered a heavy defeat against Sunderland in their last match in spite of another good performance for at least an hour. The Latics took a deserved lead in the 52nd minute through Mohamed Diame but four goals in space of 20 minutes, which included a brace by Jordan Henderson, helped Sunderland cruise to a comfortable victory in the end.

Everton on the other hand will be disappointed that they returned empty handed from Old Trafford last weekend after putting in an excellent defensive performance for more than 80 minutes.

Manager David Moyes admitted that he was disappointed with the lack of attacking threat posed by his side and will be hoping for an improved performance this time around.
