Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier will be hoping that his side’s narrow win over West Brom last weekend will prove to be a turning point of the season starting with another victory against Wigan on Saturday. Catch all the Premier League live by signing up with us here on Live Sport Network.

Villa had won just twice under Houllier in the league to slip perilously close to the relegation zone. Pressure increased on the Frenchman following Villa’s heavy defeat to Liverpool after he joked that if Villa were to lose by three goals, then Liverpool were the best side.

However the narrow win over West Brom will provide some breathing space for Houllier who will now be looking forward to helping his side climb up the league table. Goals from Stewart Downing and Emile Heskey had put Villa two goals up with 10 minutes remaining and though Paul Scharner managed to reduce the deficit late in the game, it proved to be nothing better than a consolation goal for West Brom.

Wigan Athletic on the other hand go into the game on the back of four games without a victory though manager Roberto Martinez will be pleased with his side’s hard fought draw against Everton last weekend.

The Latics are struggling for survival this season and Martinez will be aware that unless he manages to turn his side’s form around quickly, his job would come under serious pressure.
