Wigan Athletic will be hoping to collect three vital points and climb out of the relegation zone when they welcome fellow relegation strugglers Aston Villa in their next Premier League match on Tuesday. An excellent run of just one defeat from their last seven games has not helped the Latics who continue to remain in the relegation zone. However a victory on Tuesday could see the club climb as high as 15th in the league table and go three points clear off the relegation zone.

Manager Roberto Martinez will be hoping that Villa’s poor away form continues on Tuesday with the visitors losing seven of the 11 games played away from Villa Park. However Wigan’s home form leaves much to be desired with the Latics winning just two of the 12 games played.

Villa manager Gerard Houllier will be hopeful that the transfer splash of Darren Bent and Jean Makoun will help his side overcome a disastrous start and climb well away from the relegation zone.
