The second half of the Barclays Premier League will kick off on January 2, 2016, with an exciting match between West Ham United and Liverpool. The match will be played in Boleyn Ground in London and will kick off at 12:45 hours local time.
The hosts will be coming in this match after breathing a heavy sigh of relief, considering that they finally managed to break the jinx and secured their first victory since October. Prior to their win against Southampton earlier this week, they were stuck in a phase of draws that never appeared to end. However, having gotten past that, they can now shift their focus to retaining their momentum and climbing up in the table.
West Ham are currently sitting at the eighth place with 29 points, just one below Liverpool. Speaking of their opponents, The Reds have once again begun to get back to their winning ways, after losing their streak for a short while. Jurgen Klopp has had some troubles in finding his rhythm with Liverpool, but he will be strained further in the coming weeks since he will be up against Arsenal and Manchester United.
Presently, both the clubs appear to be in a similar form. However, Liverpool have a comparatively better squad, which should help them get the three important points here.
Liverpool will be traveling to West Ham home to play at Upton Park on Saturday 20 September, 17:30 hours BST.
West Ham has not fared too well either as they have won just one game so far. Ex-red Stewart Downing has been impressive. They are currently in the middle of the table and have managed just four points so far. They have won one, drawn one and lost two games so far.
The game against Liverpool will be a tough one especially after Liverpool’s successful outing during midweek. Liverpool will be looking to bounce back after a defeat against Aston Villa last time around.
The new signings by Liverpool are yet to hit their best and this game could just be an ideal one to showcase their talent. With Daniel Sturridge expected to be out till 25th October, Mario Balotelli will have step up his game. Balotelli scored his first goal for Liverpool during the midweek Champions League game and will be hoping to open his English Premier League account with Liverpool against West Ham.
Liverpool has ample talent on the field and on the bench to win this game comprehensively and West Ham United will have to play really well to stop them. However it seems unlikely, so a 3-1 victory to Liverpool seems likely.
League leaders Liverpool travel to West Ham United in a bid to consolidate the top spot in the English Premier League on Sunday.
Liverpool overtook Chelsea as leaders last weekend with the 4-0 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur at home. Their eight-match winning streak has seen talismanic strikers Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in red-hot form. The duo has developed a deadly partnership in front of the goal and is responsible for 49 of the Reds’ 88 goals in the league so far.
West Ham United are also having a good spell in the league which has seen them winning their last two consecutive matches. Last weekend’s away win at Sunderland has stoked talks of a top-10 finish for the London-based outfit. The Hammers have a formidable defence and have kept 13 clean sheets in this season’s campaign, a record bettered only by Chelsea. Former Liverpool players Andy Carroll, who scored in last weekend’s win, and Stewart Downing would both be starting this match tomorrow.
With Chelsea and Manchester City within touching distance of the table-toppers, Brendan Rodgers must make sure that the Reds bag all the available points in tomorrow’s match.
