The much awaited London Derby is set to be played on Monday evening at the London Stadium, where West Ham United will welcome a formidable Chelsea.
The Blues are currently enjoying their 10 point lead on the top at the moment. With league practically theirs to lose and no other major tournament commitments, Chelsea can assure themselves of the trophy this season. Even though they have been held to a couple of draws off lately, it didn't damage their title hopes. They last faced Swansea City, whom they defeated comfortably by 3-1.
With Eden Hazard and Diego Costa leading the way for the Blues, it is hard to imagine them fumbling at the last lap. Meanwhile, the Hammers have worked really hard to move in the upper half of the table. Dmitri Payet's exit indeed left a void, but the repercussions haven't been that dire. Their last couple of matches ended in draws against West Bromwich Albion and Watford. Prior to that, they got away with three points against Southampton and Middlesbrough.
The first leg of this fixture was exciting, mainly because Chelsea incurred one of their only three defeats in the league so far (which came in Stamford Bridge). It'll be interesting to see if the Hammers can repeat the same feat at home.
A shaken Chelsea will look to get back to winning ways after a midweek draw. They travel to the Boleyn Ground to take on West Ham United on October 24 at 15:00 hours BST.
With both sides in contrasting form, we can expect West Ham United to prove to be a stick in the mud. They have beaten both Arsenal and Liverpool away from home earlier this season and hence given their record against the bigger teams, they look good to win this game too. They have an array of goal scoring strikers who can torment the indecisive Chelsea defence.
Chelsea are in the middle of a tight spot. The players aren't playing as well as expected and at the same time, to their bad luck, Pedro may miss this game due to a knock. Eden Hazard will be looking to get back into the starting line up in the English Premier League. Diego Costa has looked far less threatening than last season and now defenders know how to throw him off his game.
When the two teams are compared on paper, they seem to be no match, but with Chelsea in the middle of a bad patch, predicting the result of this game is far from simple.
West Ham United host league leaders Chelsea at the Boleyn Ground on Wednesday 4th March, at 19:45 hours BST.
West Ham United have lost the plot all of a sudden and have stumbled down to ninth spot in the Premier League. West Ham have not registered a victory in their last five league games. Andy Carroll will most likely return from injury next week. Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho will continue to lead the West Ham attack. Stewart Downing will play a vital role in midfield and will be dangerous on the counter.
Recently lifting the Capital One Cup trophy against Tottenham on Sunday, Chelsea will be in high spirits for Wednesday’s game. Jose Mourinho would like his team to open an eight point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table as City lost to Liverpool. Diego Costa will continue to lead the attack. Oscar should start the match on Wednesday as he came on as a substitute in the Capital One Cup Final. Thibaut Courtois will probably replace Petr Cech in goal even though the Czech goalie kept a clean sheet in Sunday’s final.
West Ham will look to upset the league leaders but Chelsea should get all three points in this London derby.

The Blues were lucky to escape with a point from their last game against the Baggies. Trailing 2-1 deep into stoppage time, referee Andre Marriner chose to award a penalty after Ramires appeared to dive in the area and Hazard kept his nerve to convert it, breaking Albion’s hearts.
Chelsea are now fourth in the table, leapfrogged by both Liverpool and Southampton. They also lost the chance to cut the gap between them and Arsenal, with the latter losing 1-0 to Manchester United.
West Ham have collected fewer points than the number of games they have played. The Hammers are in 16th place with 10 points, with only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone. They were beaten 3-1 by Norwich in Round 11, with the Canaries themselves moving out of the bottom three thanks to the win over Sam Allardyce’s side.
