West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are going to lock horns this weekend, as the two sides meet in the game week 24 of the Barclays Premier League. The match will be played in the Hawthorns on Saturday.
Off lately, the form of the two teams has been along the similar lines. With just four points between the two, the Baggies will be eager to extend that lead over the weekend. Except for their whitewash against Tottenham Hotspur, they've managed to get away with points on every other occasion. Last weekend, they drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough, which was their first draw in a long time.
Meanwhile, Potters have doing a fantastic job to retain their lead in the top 10. They have been making life difficult for the big guns, with Everton and Manchester United being their most recent victims. They kept a formidable attack at bay and held the two sides to a 1-1 draw. Interestingly, they achieved this feat at home.
When the two teams last met, the result was a 1-1 draw (no surprises here). However, at the Hawthorns, the Baggies play in a form, similar to the Stoke lads at home. This will be a close encounter, which is likely to end in a draw, in not a win for the hosts.
West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City will clash against each other in the match week 20 of the English Premier League. The game will be played in The Hawthorns Stadium in West Bromwich, on Saturday afternoon.
The performance of the visitors in the recent weeks has been a decent one. They have played some exceptional football and once again, have risen up in the table. In fact, past Monday, they visited Everton, whom they defeated 4-3 in a really close encounter. Xherdan Shaqiri rose to the occasion, as he scored a brace and took his team to victory.
Prior to that, they had also defeated Manchester City and Manchester United by 2-0, and held West Ham United to a goalless draw.
As for the West Bromwich Albion, their performance has been less than eventful. They secured their first win in almost a month earlier this week, as they defeated Newcastle United by 1-0. Before that, they were held to a couple of back to back draws, followed by consecutive defeats at the hands of AFC Bournemouth and Swansea City.
This match is definitely a close one to call as both the teams are evenly matched. However, if Shaqiri can retain his newly found form for this game too, then Stoke City have certainly got a good chance to win here.
West Bromwich Albion will play host Stoke City at the Hawthorns in what promises to be an intest mid-table English Premier League match up. This game will be played on Saturday, 14th March 2015. Kick off for this clash is scheduled to take place at 15:00 hours BST.
The fates of these teams seem sealed given that there is very limited scope for them to move around in the table. Stoke City is in eighth spot while West Bromwich Albion is in 13th spot. A win for the home team could see them move up the table, but three pints for Stoke will give them confidence but unfortunately not move them up the table.
However, when the recent form of both the squads are compared, Stoke go into this game on the back of three wins on the bounce and two clean sheets en route to those wins. West Bromwich Albion are amidst a shaky patch having won one and lost one of their last two Premier League Games. However, in the bigger picture, they have two of their last nine matches which has ensured that they far and safe from the relegation zone.
Stoke city should be able to clinch the three points in spite of playing this game away from home.
West Bromwich will host Stoke City in their most crucial match of the season so far in the English Premier League on Sunday evening at the Hawthorns.
The home side are at the 17th place in the Premier League with 36 points from 37 matches. 18th placed Norwich City are three points behind West Brom, but with a much inferior goal difference. A solitary point for West Brom would ensure that they stay in the Premier League for one more season. However, the home side have lost two games running and would need to do much better to get a point here.
Stoke City are at the 10th place in the Premier League table with 47 points from 37 matches so far, and manager Mark Hughes will be contented with his team’s display this season. Stoke have won three of their last six games in the league, including last weekend’s 4-1 thrashing of relegated Fulham.
West Bromwich Albion, despite their lower rank in the table, would be itching to get the required points from this match and secure their stay in the league another season.
