Watford and Southampton will go head to head this weekend, in the Barclays Premier League. The match will be played in the Vicarage Road Stadium on Saturday.
The two sides are currently separated by just a point, with Watford on top at the 12th place. The Hornets have improved their form considerably over the last few weeks and as a result, have moved up in the table. They have lost only one match in their last five fixtures, which is always a good news for any team. Their recent results include a couple of draws against AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United, along with impressive wins against Arsenal and Burnley.
The Saints on the other hand have lost six of their last eight matches. However, owing to a decent start to the season, those defeats didn't result in that severe of a blow. Nonetheless, their form is quite shaky at the present and it might be easy for the hosts to take advantage of this.
In the last six meetings between the two sides, Southampton haven't finished a single match without a point. Having gone undefeated against the Hornets in six games, this is surely a good psychological advantage to have. But it'll be interesting to see how far they can go here as the visiting team. Expect both the teams to score.
Watford will host Southampton at Vicarage Road on Sunday August 23, 2015 at 14:00 hours BST.
Many would have expected Southampton to start this season in better fashion than they have. They have managed just one point from two games and this away game will surely be one they will be hoping to win. Given that they have a better and more experienced line up, we could see Graziano Pelle finding the back of the net. The future of Sadio Mane is up in flames given interest from Manchester United, whether he is included in this game of not will have a lot to say where his future lies.
Watford have managed one win and one draw in the season so far. They will be hoping to overcome Ronald Koeman's men in this game. Troy Deeney will be well aware of what is expected of him by the management and home fans. He has created one goal this season. Watford are unbeaten at home and they will surely look to keep that statistic alive for longer. They will have to be defensively strong, but will be aware that Southampton have the fire power to hammer in a few.
Southampton should collect the three points with enough ease given that they have the stronger team. The home advantage for Watford will not really bother the Saints in this game. We could expect Koeman's men to hammer in in excess of two goals in this game.
