The Baggies had collected just one point from their previous five games to slip perilously close to the relegation zone before turning on the style against Everton last weekend. Goals from Paul Scharner and Chris Brunt had given West Brom a two goal lead and though Everton pulled one back through Tim Cahill, Somen Tchoyi restored the two goal lead midway through the second half before Sylvain Distin scored an own goal late in the game.

Manager Roberto Di Matteo was delighted with his side’s display and said that they deserved all three points from the game. The West Brom coach will now be looking towards regaining their consistency shown at the start of the new season and pull further clear of the relegation zone.

Newcastle United too go into the match high on confidence after claiming a credible point against Chelsea last weekend. Andy Carroll continued his goal scoring streak with his ninth goal of the season only for Salomon Kalou to equalize for Chelsea.
