The Latics are off to one of their worst starts since gaining promotion to the Premier League and have already conceded 10 goals in their opening two games in front of their home crowd. Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou grabbed a brace each while Florent Malouda and Yossi Benayoun were also on target for the Blues.

Tottenham Hotspur on the other hand go into the game after having registered their first victory of the new campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Stoke City last weekend. Gareth Bale opened the scoring midway through the first half and though Ricardo Fuller managed to equalize in the 25th minute, Bale scored the winning goal five minutes later to secure all three points for his side.
