Hughes has struggled to stamp his authority on the Fulham side and has not been helped by injuries to a number of key players. Fulham slumped to their sixth defeat of the season after a woeful display against bottom placed West Ham side.

The Cottagers had taken the lead through Aaron Hughes in the 11th minute but goals from Carlton Cole and Frederic Piquionne meant that the Hammers went into the second half with the lead before Cole put the result beyond doubt with a third late in the game.

Tottenham on the other hand go into the match high on confidence following their hard fought victory over Aston Villa. Rafael Van der Vaart had given them the lead midway through the first half but Spurs were forced to play for nearly three quarters of the game with 10 men after Jermain Defoe was sent off though they did add a second through Van der Vaart to clinch a narrow 2-1 win.
