Sunderland and Stoke City will go head to head on Saturday afternoon, in the game week 21 of the Barclays Premier League.
When the two teams met in the first leg of this fixture, the Potters were the victors by 2-0. That win was a much needed one by them, given that they haven't had the best of the season. However, in comparison to Sunderland, Stoke are still much better off at the 11th place in the table.
This fixture is certainly going to be a demanding one for them. Not only do the Potters have a poor record as the visitors, but whatever points Sunderland have managed to salvage this season, it has been in the Stadium of Light. In fact, they have lost only one match in their last five home bouts. This includes the most recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool.
As for Stoke, they have conceded heavily in their last three games as the visiting side. In their defense, they played the big sides in an order - Arsenal, Liverpool and then Chelsea. The Black Cats are a struggling side, who need just a win to break free from the relegation zone. Given their performance at home, they'll certainly fancy their chances. This will be a good game to watch which can go either way.
Sunderland will be hoping to build on last weekends win with and climb out of the relegation zone. They showed some form last weekend and will be hoping to replicate that all over again.
The new Sunderland manager has made a lot of changes which has suited the club. However, expecting them to come out with a win in this game too would be expecting too much from a team in transition. The home crow will have to back the team, something that they have not been doing too much of.
Stoke City came out with a win last weekend over Southampton. Krkic Bojan has found his feet and with assitance from the wings from Xherdan Shaqiri and Ibrahim Afellay we could see Stoke in with a shout. Stoke City have lost just one of their last eight games and will be looking to continue that form in this game as well. Given that their opponents are not in their best form, we could expect them to come out and go all guns blazing in order to gain the three away points.
This game should be one that will go in favour of the visitors pushing them up the table into the top half.
Sunderland will be playing host to Stoke City at the Stadium of Light. The kick-off is listed at 15:00 hours BST on Saturday, 4th October 2014. Sunderland has not had a good start to the season and has only managed five draws and one loss in the opening six matches. Gus Poyet’s side needs to step up their game and push for their first win of the season.
Stoke City have scored eight points out of an available 18 points. They did so with two wins and two draws. Stoke City have had a very shaky start to this year’s campaign, they beat Manchester City 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium but could not take 3 points against Leicester City. Stoke City beat Newcastle 1-0 on the 29th of September and will take that confidence into this game.
Victor Moses put in a Man of the match performance in the last game against Newcastle for Stoke City. Moses and Peter Crouch are crucial players for Stoke if they want to do well against Sunderland.
As things stand currently, Stoke City should be able to put one past Vito Mannone to win the game.

Sunderland will be going into this game on a high after their thrilling League Cup semifinal triumph over Manchester United. The Black Cats went behind, scored in the 119th minute, then again conceded seconds later as the tie went to penalties. However they held their nerve in the shootout, where a total of just three penalties were converted.
Stoke have had some tough fixtures in the last few weeks, playing the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham. Mark Hughes’ side are 14th in the table with 22 points. Sunderland are second from bottom with 18 points, but the Black Cats could come out of the drop zone if they win against the Potters and other results go their way.
The reverse fixture went 2-0 in favour of Stoke, with Wes Brown’s controversial early red card playing into the hands of the Potters. Will Stoke City do the double over Sunderland? Watch Stoke vs Sunderland live streaming as it happens in the Premier League and find out.
