The Red Devils have been in a sensational form over the last few weeks. They have won their last six matches in the league. The wins, which although came against the weaker sides, has certainly helped the hosts recuperate their momentum and confidence. They are coming in this game on back of a couple of wins against West Ham United in the league and Hull City in the FA Cup.

As for Liverpool, they had a chance to cut down the gap between them and Chelsea to three points, but a shocking 2-2 result against Sunderland last weekend has put the gap at five points. Prior to that, they won four matches back to back against the sides like Manchester City, Everton and Stoke City.

When the two sides met at Anfield, the result was a mundane, goalless draw. Since then, both the sides have improved their form considerably well and have found their goal scoring strides. United have been highly impressive at home and they will fancy their chances. We can certainly expect both the teams to score here.

One of the greatest English Premier League rivalries between Manchester United and Liverpool will continue at Old Trafford on Saturday September 12 at 17:30 hours BST.

Wayne Rooney has discovered his goal scoring ability and will be a constant threat to a Liverpool defence that looked amateur against West Ham United. Juan Mata who scored a brace the last time these teams met will be looking to continue his goal scoring spree in this game. Whether De ages starts in goal or Sergio Romero keeps his spot, we will have to wait and watch.

Liverpool will be quite depleted given that Adam Lallana and captain Jordan Henderson may miss the game due to injury. Star midefield player Phillipe Couthino will miss out due to suspension. Given these absentees, if Liverpool come out with anything at all, it will be a great achievement. A lot depends on Christian Benteke's form as well. He has not quite had the impact fans and management thought he would when was brought in. Whether long term absentee, Daniel Sturridge is fit to make an appearance off th bench, we will have to wait and watch.

Both the teams have had a massive overhaul and this is a good game to judge how far along they have come. Given the home advantage, United are in the drivers seat to collect the three points on offer.

Arguably the gameweek biggest match the traditional derby between Manchester United and Liverpool is all set to take place at Old Trafford on December 14, 2014. Kick-off for this high pressure game will be at 13:30 hours BST.

Liverpool have not impressed at all. The midweek exit from the Champions league could spur the team on to give their all over the weekend. However, they lacked intensity, understanding and passion that they showed last season. Steven Gerrard’s men have seemed to have lost the plot and look directionless. A win in this game is very important to keep their hopes for a top four finish alive. A loss could see the difference between them and fourth place go up to potentially nine points.

Manchester United has found some inspirational form with five back to back victories in the league.  Angel Di Maria should be fit for this game but could find a spot only on the bench. Louis Van Gaal has found a winning combination and hence should not change much given that things are going right for them. Robin Van Persie has been in great form and he will be the talisman for the team in this game as well.

United’s second came when Rafael, who had earlier had his effort brilliantly saved by Ben Foster, crossed from the right for Rooney to nod in from close range. Goal scorer Rooney then turned provider as he set up substitute Danny Welbeck for United’s third of the game.

Liverpool won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Anfield earlier this season, although United did gain a measure of revenge by beating them in the League Cup. The Reds are eleven points ahead of David Moyes’s side in the league standings. United are five points behind fourth place Spurs but have a game in hand over the Lilywhites.
