The Toffees’ poor run without a league victory extended to six games as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea last weekend. Didier Drogba had put Chelsea ahead in the first half from the penalty spot but Everton fought back to equalize through Jermaine Beckford four minutes before the final whistle and the visitors should have collected all three points from the match.

David Moyes was happy with his side’s fight back in the second half but expressed his disappointment that they were unable to win the game as they missed a host of chances to secure the winner in injury time.

Wigan on the other hand go into the match on the back of a thrilling 2-2 draw against Stoke City. The Potters had raced to a two goal lead by the first half hour but an own goal by Danny Collins allowed Wigan back into the match and the Latics took full advantage to equalize through Tom Cleverly five minutes before the half time whistle.
