The Toffees have collected just two points from their opening four games and find themselves in the relegation zone this early in the season. Manager David Moyes’ hopes of avoiding another poor start to the season have been dashed and the Toffees need to get their form back in track sooner rather than later if they are to have any hopes of challenging Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City for a place in the Champions League next season.

Newcastle United on the other hand will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat against Blackpool last weekend. The Magpies were expected to secure a comfortable victory at home but were unable to prevent Blackpool from collecting all three points from the game.

The Magpies continue to be without Steven Taylor with the defender yet to recover from his shoulder injury while new signing Ben Arfa is likely to be handed his debut start for the club.
