Roy Hodgson’s side are off to one of their worst start to a new season with the club winning just one of their seven games so far to occupy a spot in the relegation zone. There are already calls from section of fans to sack Hodgson and replace him with Kenny Daglish, the man who led Liverpool to its last Premier League title.

However with the club slowly inching towards a takeover by Red Sox owner John Henry, Hodgson’s job is safe for the time being though the former Fulham manager will be aware that his side will have to turn the form around sooner rather than later if he is to remain at the helm for a longer period.

Everton will be aware that the off field uncertainty presents them with a great chance of collecting another three points against their arch rivals. The Toffees registered their first win of the new season with a narrow victory over Birmingham in their last match and manager David Moyes will be optimistic that his side can now look forward to climbing up the league table and challenge for a spot in the Europa League.
