Marouane Fellaini is out of action for the rest of the season while Tim Cahill is yet to recover fully from his ankle injury. Though Mikel Arteta and Louis Saha have recovered from their injuries, both the players are yet to reach full fitness, a fact that was exposed as Everton crashed out of the FA Cup following a disappointing loss to Reading.

The Blues celebrated their first major title triumph in over four decades by securing a shock win over Arsenal in the Carling Cup final and coach Alex McLeish will be hopeful that the success will prove to be the turning point that will see his side climb well away from the drop zone.
