The Blues had gone five games without a league win prior to their match against Arsenal but an improved performance against Tottenham raised hopes that Chelsea would continue their winning streak against the Gunners.

Villa manager Gerard Houllier said that he was disappointed with the result but refused to blame the players, claiming that it was a good performance though he admitted that they will have to start winning games on a regular basis.
