The Premier League action resumes this weekend, with Burnley playing host to Southampton. The match will be played in the Turf Moor Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams are separated by just a point, with the Saints being at the 10th place. The visitors, who have had a rather shaky season up until now, haven't looked considerably strong. In fact, they have lost their last three fixtures consecutively in the league. While the 4-1 rout against Spurs was an expected result by the fans, their other defeats against Everton and West Bromwich must have certainly shaken their morale.
Now, they're going up against a team who are highly formidable at home. The Clarets have won five of their last six home matches, while defeating the likes of Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth, Middlesbrough and Sunderland. Before the break, they faced Manchester City, against whom they lost by 2-1.
When the two teams met in the first leg at St. Mary's Stadium, it was Southampton who sailed to a commanding victory with the help of a 3-1 result. But given Burnley's record at home, it will be quite difficult for them to repeat the previous result. They ought to be looking at a marginal win, but a point to each team is an acceptable result too.
Gameweek 16 of the English Premier League is set to kick off. One of the first six games of the weekend will see Southampton making a trip to play Burnley at Turf Moor. Kick off for the same is scheduled to take place at 15:00 hours BST on 13th December, 2014.
Southampton’s dream run in the English Premier League came to a grinding halt a draw followed by three consecutive losses. They lost the plot at a crucial time of the season, albeit the losses were handed by three very good teams. They have managed to net just twice in four games, something that will have to change if they want to once again find their brilliant form. Graziano Pelle will be hoping to instigate his players and bring them out of this bad patch.
Burnley’s run of positive results ended with a loss to Queens Park Rangers last weekend, but they will be coming out with hopes that the home advantage can spur the team on to get back to winning ways while they take on a unconfident Saints team. Danny Ings will be the main man for the home side as he is in top form.
This game has the potential to be a thriller and the result could go either way.
