League leaders Chelsea will look forward to increasing their lead on the top this weekend, when they visit Burnley in Turf Moor Stadium on Sunday. The match will kick off at 13:30 hours, local time.
The Blues are currently nine points clear on the top, with the league now practically theirs to lose. They had a couple of big matches consecutively against Liverpool and Arsenal, but they managed to get away with a draw and a win respectively. With their games over, their race to the finish has gotten considerably easier.
On the other hand, Burnley are currently at the 12th place, courtesy of their defeats to Manchester City, Arsenal and most recently, Watford. It is quite intriguing to know that those defeats came when they were the visiting side. As the hosts, they have won their last five matches, and in three of those, they kept a clean sheet.
Eden Hazard and Diego Costa have 25 goals between them as of now, and considering their form, it is quite unlikely that this tally will stop here. However, they can certainly expect to run into heavy resistance at Turf Moor. This is going to be an exciting match to see, with Chelsea to come out on top with a margin of a goal.
The tenth fixture of the English Premier League Gameweek One will be played between Burnley and Chelsea at Turf Moor, Lancashire. The kickoff is scheduled at 20:00 (GMT) on 18h August, 2014.
One of the few teams which are expected to go down again this season, Burnley will be looking to beat the odds and stay up. Their last Premier League outing did not go well and they were relegated the same season (2009-10). Manager Sean Dyche helped their surpise promotion last season from the Championship and will be looking to deliver the same this time too.
Lack of squad depth and quality player will hurt Burnley more than anything this season. They need to bolster their attack too.
Chelsea have spent loads on their three major signings Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Felipe Luis. This has solved most of their problems related to attack, but their backline looks shaky especially the centre back positions.
If Jose Mourinho sets up his team to harness the creative energy of Fabregas and accomodate him in the three man midfield then there’s no stopping for Chelsea.
Verdict: Burnley 0 – 4 (Costa 2, Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic) Chelsea
