The Trotters have won the last three league meetings between the two sides including a 2-1 win in this fixture last season. Manager Owen Coyle will be keen to maintain his side’s good start to the season that has seen them collect four points from their opening two games and will be confident of securing another three points against Birmingham this weekend.

Bolton go into the match on the back of an excellent display against West Ham that saw them secure a comfortable 3-1 win over the Hammers. An own goal by Matthew Upson gave Bolton the lead early in the second half while Johan Elmander grabbed a brace with Mark Noble managing to score a consolation goal from the penalty spot.

Birmingham City too are off to a good start with manager Alex McLeish looking to build on their top half finish last season. The Blues put up a brilliant second half display against Blackburn Rovers in their last game. Blackburn took the lead through Steven Nzonzi in the 54th minute after Ben Foster had denied Morten Gamst Pedersen from the penalty spot but Craig Gardner equalized for the hosts just three minutes later before slotting home the winner 19 minutes before the final whistle.
