A return of just one point from their last four games has seen Blackburn slip into the relegation zone after a couple of very poor performances. Blackburn looked on course of a shock victory over league leaders Chelsea last weekend after Benjani had given them the lead midway through the first half. However Nicolas Anelka equalized before the halftime whistle before Branislav Ivanovic grabbed the winner six minutes from the final whistle.

Allardyce revealed that while he was satisfied with his side’s display, he will be expecting an improved performance from his defense as he looks to pull his side out of the relegation zone and closer to the top half of the league table. Blackburn will be without Gael Givet while there are fitness concerns over Benjani.

Wigan on the other hand suffered a disappointing defeat against Fulham last weekend to end their four match unbeaten streak. The Latics looked to be returning to form but struggled against an incisive Fulham side who rode high on a brace by Clint Dempsey to collect all three points from the game.
