The Black Cats put up an excellent defensive display against Manchester United in their last match and came very close to causing an upset late in the game. Blackburn on the other hand go into the match on the back of a disappointing performance away to Stoke City as a Jon Walters goal early in the second half was enough for the hosts to claim all three points from the game.
