An injury hit start to last season saw Everton slip down in the relegation zone though a timely return to form midway through the season saw them climb back up to eighth in the league table. With no major injury concerns so far in the pre-season, manager David Moyes will be optimistic that his side can pose a realistic challenge for a place in the top four of the league table.

A small transfer kitty has limited Moyes’ transfer targets this summer with the Everton manager brining in two players on a free transfer. More importantly for Moyes, he has not been forced to sell any of his star players with Mikel Arteta signing a new long term contract with the club.

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce on the other hand is yet to make his move in the transfer window with the only arrival so far being the loan signing of Mame Biram Diouf from Manchester United.

The club is currently in speculation over a takeover by an Indian tycoon and Allardyce will be hopeful that the process will be completed before the end of this month, giving him some time to add some new players to the squad.
