The Blues got their season off to an excellent start by collecting four points from their first two games but have since then managed to collect just two points from their next three. With his future at the club resolved, manager Alex McLeish will now be hoping to get his side back to their consistent best as he looks to repeat their excellent performance from last season that saw them finish ninth in the league.

Birmingham go into the match on the back of a disappointing performance last weekend that saw them suffer a heavy 3-1 defeat to West Brom. The Blues led through Cameron Jerome’s goal early in the first half but an own goal by Scott Dann restored parity before Peter Odemwingie and Jonas Olsson wrapped up the victory for the Baggies.

Wigan too go into the game following a third defeat of the season as they lost out to Manchester City. The Latics have been poor so far this season and manager Roberto Martinez will be aware his side’s six year stay in the Premier League will come to an end unless they improve their form sooner rather than later.
