Newcastle United will be hoping to build on their excellent performance from last weekend and extend manager Alan Pardew’s winning start to two games when they visit Birmingham City on Saturday. The Magpies were expected to roll over for Liverpool last weekend but provided Pardew with an excellent start by racing to an early lead through Kevin Nolan. Though Dirk Kuyt managed to equalize for the visitors, Joey Barton restored Newcastle’s lead with 10 minutes remaining on the clock before Andy Carroll put the result beyond doubt by scoring a third.

After the victory all of the Newcastle players dedicated the win to their sacked boss Chris Hughton though Pardew will now be looking forward to mould the team into how he wants them to play.

The Magpies are favorites to secure another three points against a struggling Birmingham City side that has managed to win just one of its last eight games to slip down to 16th in the league table. The Blues suffered their fifth defeat of the season as a Stephen Hunt goal was enough for Wolves to secure all three points from the game.
