Though Liverpool have an excellent league record against Birmingham, they have struggled for form in recent times with both the games ending in scored draws last season. With his side off to an indifferent start to the new season, manager Roy Hodgson will be hopeful that they can finally end their winless streak against the Blues and secure vital three points from the game.

Hodgson admitted that the club was facing some serious problems off the field and urged the board to complete the sale of the club as soon as possible in order to do away with the uncertainty over the future and provide some much needed funds to improve the squad.

The Birmingham manager is yet to sign a new contract with the board refusing to agree to his demands of a big wage rise while the club’s acting chairman Peter Pannu dismissed rumors that there is a rift between the two parties over the contract saga.
