Arsenal ended their five match losing streak against Chelsea in style as they thrashed the Blues 3-1 to climb to second in the league table. Goals from Alex Song, Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott had given the Gunners a 3-0 lead midway through the second half and though Chelsea threatened after reducing the deficit through Branislav Ivanovic, they were unable to prevent another disappointing defeat.

Manager Arsene Wenger expressed his delight at the result and claimed that his side was now willing to go out and play against big teams without any fear. The Arsenal coach will be keen to make sure that the victory against Chelsea will not be in vain as he looks to help them win their first league title in seven years.

Birmingham go into the match well rested after their match against Everton was called off due to snow. The Blues face a difficult week as they welcome Manchester United and Arsenal in successive games before a tricky trip to Blackpool next weekend.

Alexander Hleb should recover in time to be available for the clash against his former club though the midfielder is likely to sit on the bench with Birmingham keen to avoid another defeat against the Gunners.
