The Gunners suffered their first home defeat to arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur in more than 17 years and missed a great chance of climbing to the top of the league table. Goals from Samir Nasri and Marouane Chamakh looked to have killed off the match as Arsenal raced to a two goal lead before half time but Spurs fought back through Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart before Younes Kaboul grabbed the winner five minutes before the final whistle.

Wenger was furious with his side’s performance in the second half and admitted that his side will have to learn to start taking their chances if they are to end their five year wait for some silverware. Robin van Persie, Andrei Arshavin and Gael Clichy are likely to miss the game with the trio suffering from injuries.

Meanwhile Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier will be aware that his side will have to start picking up points if they are to have any hopes of challenging for a place in Europe next season.
