Los Blancos bounced back from their 5-0 thrashing by Barcelona with a nervy win over Valencia last weekend and needed a late brace from Cristiano Ronaldo to seal all three points. However the victory made little difference in the standings as Barcelona continued their relentless winning streak with another victory over Osasuna to maintain their two point lead at the top of the table.

Zaragoza on the other hand are firmly rooted at the foot of the league table after they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Almeria.

Gabi had given the visitors a surprise lead midway through the first half but Almeria managed to equalize through Pablo Piatti with just over 10 minutes remaining on the clock.
