Madrid emerged 6-3 winners over in a goal fest last week as Valencia Gonzalo Higuain scored a hat-trick and Kaka grabbed a brace. Karim Benzeme scored the other goal. Valencia responded with goals from Roberto Soldado, Jonas Goncalves and Jordi Alba, but it was never going to test a supremely confident Real Madrid side.

Boss Jose Mourinho will hope his side can stay alive in the race for the tile and will also hope for a slip up by Barcelona heading into the final five games of the season. The welcome return to form for Higuain and Kaka will be great news for Madrid fans as they face up to a double header over Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.

Meanwhile Real Zaragoza stayed above the relegation zone this weekend with a 1-0 win over Almeria thanks to an own goal from Almeria goalkeeper Diego Alves.
