The Catalan giants had seen their lead at the top cut down to five points after they were held to a disappointing draw by Sporting Gijon. However Real Madrid’s stalemate against Deportivo La Coruna last weekend allowed Barcelona to regain their seven point lead with a comfortable 3-0 win over Mallorca.

Lionel Messi, David Villa and Pedro were all on target as Barcelona completely dominated the game which they should have had won by a bigger margin.

Meanwhile Zaragoza coach Javier Aguirre will be aware that his side has a very difficult task on hand and that they will have to put in their best performance this season if they are to have any hopes of coming away with at least a point this weekend.
