The Catalan giants saw their 16 match winning streak end last weekend as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting Gijon. Sporting took a shock lead through David Barral early in the 16th minute and it needed an 80th minute strike by David Villa to help Barca avoid an embarrassing defeat.

Title rivals Real Madrid took full advantage of the dropped points to close down the gap at the top of the table to just five points and with Madrid expected to secure all three points against Levante, Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola will be aware that his side cannot afford to drop any more points this weekend.

Meanwhile Athletic Bilbao will be hoping to avoid another defeat to Barcelona and continue their excellent form this season by securing a shock win over the defending champions.
