The Yankees are favorites to win the tournament and anything less than the trophy will be seen as a failure for a United States side that has improved in recent years. Having come very close to winning the Confederations Cup in 2009, United States had a fairly successful 2010 World Cup campaign that saw them finish above England and Mexico in the tournament rankings.

Bradley will be keen to build on those successes to lead his side to a record equaling fifth Gold Cup success with his side reaching the final of the competition four times in the last five editions.

Bradley has named a strong squad for the friendly with Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey both included while Nuremberg’s Timothy Chandler, keeper David Yelldell and Norwich defender Zak Whitbread are in line to make their international debuts.
