The Socceroos will be without two of their most experienced players with Harry Kewell declaring himself not available for selection while Mark Bresciano is also not with the 20-man squad. Vince Grella and Brett Emerton are the two other big name players who have failed to make it to the squad.

However key players Tim Cahill, Lucas Neill and Mark Schwarzer have all been called up to the national squad. AEK Athens player Nathan Burns is the major surprise pick with the 22-year old impressing during the Sydney Festival of Football pre-season tournament.

Meanwhile Slovenia coach Matejaz Kek has named a fairly unchanged squad for the friendlies with Andraz Krim and Milovje Novakovic all retaining their places. A heartbreaking final World Cup group stage match saw Slovenia bow out of the competition with Kek stating that his players need more time to gel together and will be looking forward to a successful Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
