Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has recalled hard tackling midfielder Nigel de Jong to the squad after excluding him from the country’s last three internationals. De Jong was the subject of severe criticism last year following his tackles on Spain’s Xabi Alonso in the World Cup final and Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa in the Premier League.

Van Marwijk has chosen to leave out influential winger Arjen Robben, with the Bayern star only recently having recovered from a troublesome hamstring injury. Utrecht midfielder Kevin Strootman could be in line for his first Oranje cap against the Austrians.

Coach Dietmar Constantini has axed striker Roland Linz from the squad for this friendly.
