France coach Laurent Blanc has decided against calling up Manchester United’s Patrice Evra despite the latter having completed a five match ban. There is however a maiden call up for Arsenal centre half Laurent Koscielny. The defender’s Arsenal team mate Samir Nasri misses out through injury, but fellow club mate Abou Diaby has been included.

Blanc has kept faith with out of form playmaker Yoann Gourcuff. Gourcuff has struggled to make an impression at Olympique Lyonnais after his switch last summer from Bordeaux. Roma’s Jeremy Menez has also been included for France, who will be wearing their new Nike kit for the first time against the Brazilians.

Brazil’s three game winning streak in international fixtures came to an end last November when they lost 1-0 to bitter continental rivals Argentina. Samba Boys coach Mario Menez has chosen not to call up any home based players for this friendly as they will be in action at the Copa Libertadores for their respective clubs.
