The Danes thrashed England 4-1 the last time the two sides met in international competition. On that evening in August 2005, three goals in seven second half minutes saw the Danes condemn England to their worst international defeat in twenty five years.

Dennis Rommedahl opened the scoring after an error from David James and quickfire strikes from Jon Dahl Tommasson and Michael Gravgaard saw Denmark go 3-0 ahead. Wayne Rooney pulled one back for England three minutes from time but Denmark’s three goal advantage was restored when Soren Larsen scored in second half injury time.

England manager Fabio Capello is again likely to test out new faces like he did in the 2-1 loss to France last November. Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere is almost certain to start in midfield. Denmark were last seen in action in a goalless draw against Czech Republic at home.
