Sergio Batista will be looking to celebrate his confirmation as the Argentina coach by leading his side to a victory over arch rivals Brazil when the two teams meet in a friendly game on Wednesday. Batista had been appointed as a caretaker manager following Diego Maradona’s resignation and the 48-year old led Argentina to convincing victories over Republic of Ireland and Spain. Argentina’s good form under Batista prompted the Argentine Football Association to offer him the job on a permanent basis until the 2014 World Cup.

Batista has quickly named a new squad to take on Brazil, handing a first call-up to Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia as the replacement for Esteban Cambiasso and Fernando Gago who are both out injured. Carlos Tevez has also been named in the squad along with Ever Banega and Lionel Messi.

Brazil coach Mano Menezes on the other hand has made a number of changes to the squad with Ronaldinho being recalled to the national squad. The AC Milan star had found himself out of the national squad following less than impressive performances but has slowly showing some of his excellent form that saw him win the Champions League with Barcelona.
