Manager Sam Allardyce’s hopes of improving on a top half finish from the last season might receive a big boost before the end of this month after it was reported that an Indian tycoon was interested in buying the club and providing much needed funds to improve the squad.

Blackburn are yet to make any new signings this summer though they have released as many as six players including Steven Reid and Yıldıray Basturk. Allardyce has expressed his satisfaction with the players available but is interested in bolstering his attacking options by signing a new striker.

The Rovers have struggled for form in the pre-season, losing four of their five friendly games and Allardyce will be hopeful that the takeover deal reaches a conclusion well before the end of the transfer window, giving him the time to sign some new players before the end of the transfer window.
