The Rossoneri suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Serie B outfit AS Varese and Allegri will be aware that he has a huge task on hand if he is to repeat Milan’s last season performance and finish third in the Serie A table.

Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has revealed that there will be no major signings this summer though he was quick to reassure that Allegri will not be forced to sell some of his key players.

Lyon on the other hand are on a major rebuilding program and have already bought Jimmy Briand with more signings expected to be made before the end of the transfer window. The French giants have displayed poor form in their pre-season friendlies, losing out to Sporting CP and Juventus and manager Claude Puel will be hoping to gear up to the start of the season with a comfortable victory over Milan.
