Villa are clear favorites to secure a comfortable victory over United but with the Villans currently on a poor run of form, the Championship side will be fancying their chances of securing a morale boosting victory against a Premier League side.

Just two wins from their last 12 games has seen Villa slip close to the relegation zone though they go into the match on the back of an excellent performance against Chelsea. Manager Gerard Houllier was pleased with his side’s display against the defending champions and expressed his confidence that they can now kickstart their revival and pose a late challenge for a place in the Europa League next season.

Houllier could give a run out for Luke Young who is expected to recover from his thigh injury in time for the game though the prospect of the Midlands derby next weekend could see a number of key players rested.
