The Citizens have targeted the FA Cup as their best chance of ending a long trophy drought and with manager Roberto Mancini further boosting his squad this month, City are one of the favorites to lift the trophy this season. However City’s stay in the competition would have been brief had Leicester City managed to put away their chances in the third round.

Souleymane Bamba had given Leicester an early lead in the first minute but City fought back to equalize through James Milner before Carlos Tevez put his side ahead. Though Leicester had managed to push the tie into a replay, they were completely outplayed at the City of Manchester Stadium with Mancini’s side cruising to a comfortable 4-2 victory.

Notts County on the other hand pulled off a shock victory in their third round tie against Sunderland. Goals from Craig Westcarr and Lee Hughes had given the Magpies a two goal lead and though Sunderland managed to reduce the deficit, they were unable to grab an equalizer late in the game.
