The Blues were close to an early exit from the competition after Louis Saha had put Everton ahead at Goodison Park just after the hour mark but Chelsea fought back to equalize through Solomon Kalou to push the game into a replay.

While Chelsea are favorites to secure a victory this weekend, manager Carlo Ancelotti will be worried over his side’s inability to turn their dominance into victories as they were once again held to a disappointing stalemate by Fulham on Monday. The Cottagers could and should have had secured a late victory over for Petr Cech to deny Clint Dempsey from the penalty spot.

The match displayed another poor performance by record signing Fernando Torres who missed two great chances to break the deadlock. Didier Drogba, who started the game on the bench, is expected to start along with new signing David Luiz who put in an excellent performance on his debut.
