Stuttgart beat Slovan Bratislava 3-2 on aggregate in the playoff rounds. They won 1-0 in Bratislava thanks to Martin Harnik’s 88^th minute effort. However they were stunned into submission at the Mercedes Benz Arena as Slovan raced to a 2-0 lead in Germany in the second leg.

Timo Gebhart and Christian Gentner came to Stuttgart’s rescue in the second leg by netting twice in the space of eight second half minutes. Slovan could not come up with another goal and the 2-2 draw was enough for Stuttgart to move into the group stages.

Young Boys lead Tottenham 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League as they seemed on course for a spot in the knockout stages. However Spurs scored twice in Berne and then thrashed the Swiss side 4-0 in London to win 6-3 on aggregate.
