Stuttgart’s European form has been a source of respite for their fans, who have seen their team suffer defeat after defeat in the Bundesliga. The German outfit beat Danish side Odense 2-1 on Match Day 2 to add to the three points they had collected by beating Young Boys 3-0 on Match Day 1. Stuttgart’s goals against Odense, scored by Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Martin Harnik, came in the second half of the fixture.

Getafe opened their group campaign with a 2-1 comeback win over Odense at home but were beaten 2-0 by Young Boys in Switzerland on Match Day 2. Swiss international David Degen, brother of Stuttgart defender Philipp, netted a brace against Getafe for Young Boys.

Getafe’s strong showing in La Liga, coupled with Stuttgart’s poor form in the Bundesliga, would put the former as favourites, but few would underestimate Stuttgart’s European capabilities at their home ground.
