Steaua have collected five points from their Group K campaign so far, three behind leaders Liverpool. They claimed their first win of the group stage on Match Day 4 against Dutch side FC Utrecht. Bogdan Stancu’s second half brace gave Steaua a 3-1 win after Florin Gardos’ 29^th minute opener had been cancelled out by Utrecht’s Dries Mertens.

Liverpool needed a late show from inspirational skipper Steven Gerrard to beat Napoli by the same score line in their last group fixture. Gerrard came off the bench to score thrice in the last quarter of an hour as Liverpool picked up their second win in the group against the Partenopei.

The influential midfielder will however not lineup against Steaua after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty with England a fortnight ago. If Roy Hodgson’s men beat Steaua on Thursday, they will not only confirm progress to the Round of 32, but will also enter it as group winners.
