Sevilla added three points to the three they had collected on Match Day 2 by beating Karpaty 1-0 in Lviv. Frederic Kanoute scored the only goal of the game in the 34^th minute, heading in from close range after Diego Perotti’s corner had been flicked into his path by French centre half Julian Escude.

Karpaty finished the game with ten men following the dismissal of Vyacheslav Checher late in the game. Checher will therefore miss his side’s trip to Andalusia this week. The Ukrainians are the only team without a point in Group J and a loss on Thursday will end their chances of progressing in Europe.

The Sevilla duo of Tiberio Guarente and Fernando Navarro are also walking a defensive tightrope – a yellow card will see them miss Los Rojiblancos’ crucial Match Day 5 tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
