Lech, who had drawn their opening fixture 3-3 against mighty Juventus, looked assured at home as they saw off the challenge of Red Bull Salzburg on Match Day 2. Manuel Arboleda broke the deadlock close to the hour mark when he nodded in a corner.

A brilliant move from the hosts delivered the killer blow on Salzburg ten minutes from time. Four neatly strung, quick passes ended in Slawomir Peszko slotting in from close range to make it 2-0 to Lech.

Manchester City have the same number of points as Lech after a win and a draw in their opening two fixtures. The Citizens beat Red Bull 2-0 in Austria and then drew 1-1 with Juventus at Eastlands. Young winger Adam Johnson scored City’s only goal of the game against Juve.
