After coming out of Romania with a somewhat fortuitous 1-0 victory, Manchester City will look to complete the task they set to achieve last week when they host Timisoara in the second leg of their Europa League playoff tie.

New City signing Mario Balotelli came off the bench to net the winner at the Dan Paltinisanu Stadium last week. The 20 year old, a second half substitute for Gareth Barry, scored eighteen minutes from time after being set up by striker partner Emmanuel Adebayor.

City boss Roberto Mancini again preferred Joe Hart in goal to Shay Given. However his side were unconvincing in the initial stages of the game and Timisoara were unlucky to have two penalty appeals turned down by referee Florian Meyer. One was when Pablo Zabaleta appeared to catch Cosmin Contra in the box, and the other when the ball allegedly struck the arm of City defender Vincent Kompany.

However City did get into their stride in the last half half an hour, and came close to adding to Balotelli’s opener on more than one occasion towards the end of the game.
