Timisoara produced an astonishing second half comeback to beat Finnish outfit MyPa in the third qualifying round. Timisoara went into the second leg with a 2-1 lead, but were stunned into submission when their opponents scored thrice in the first half.

However the Romanians recovered and goals from Mircea Axente, Ianis Zicu and Marian Cisovsky, the last of which came in injury time, allowed Timisoara to win 3-2 and progress 5-4 on aggregate. Had Cisovsky not scored his dramatic late goal, then Timisoara would have gone out on the away goals rule.

Craig Bellamy, David Silva and Stephen Ireland will play no part in this game for Manchester City. The trio were omitted from City’s initial list that was submitted to UEFA. However newer signings like Jerome Boateng, Yaya Toure and Alexsandar Kolarov could make their European debut for City.
